This was the initial plan as the second Project X CPU option in the shape of the Atom x5-E8000 which is a low-power and relatively low cost quad core SoC. It has a clock speed of 1.04GHz and turbo of 2GHz. The TDP is 5W.
Feature wise it supports up to 8GB of DDR3L RAM, four PCIe 2.0 lanes and HDMI 1.4a, DP and eDP display connectivity. Other noteworthy features includes AES and VT-x support. It should also be pin-to-pin compatible with the Intel Celeron N/J3xx0 and Pentium N/J37xx series of processors. There’s also support for four USB 3.0 ports, two SATA 6Gbps ports and eMMC 4.5.1.
